I guess when he couldn't win himself he decided to buy candidates left and right. By the way, this was considered EXTREME in 1980, even by conservative standards. Now it's essentially the norm for a Republican.

I don't get it. How is someone spitting this in 1980 - a mere decade after major civil rights victories - not considered a white supremacist? In 1980, how could any of those "issues" be on the forefront of someone's mind? Like, nothing he's advocating on that list is a reflection of his need to help/empower disenfranchised minorities that JUST received "equal and fair" treatment.
