Haven't made it through the whole vid but it's an interesting perspective, though his point about rappers delight sounds like some Troll shyt seeing as how you have somebody like Caz doing some of the heavy lifting on that record who would certainly gravitate more toward the Eminem/Lupe Fiasco types when dolling out respect. He is STILL a very sharp lyricist and is a Hip Hop as they come.
I still would say rappers, as in lyricists are Hip Hop, but there is and should be a distinction between Rap and Hip Hop as a culture. You can be a rapper and not necessarily be Hip Hop. Country artists are Rapping now and have absolutely nothing to do with the actual culture of Hip Hop. The new music becoming more abstract and less focused on words to me is just about femininity. I don't mean that in the negative, paranoid sense, but energetically, the entire planet is coming to the end of the male/left brained dominant society and will make a shift into more abstract, feminine, right brained approach where boundaries are more blurred.
Everything is a double edged sword, this swing of the pendulum brings creativity, originality and it will also start looking less and less like the Hip Hop we know of...or even move on into something else entirely.
