Haven't made it through the whole vid but it's an interesting perspective, though his point about rappers delight sounds like some Troll shyt seeing as how you have somebody like Caz doing some of the heavy lifting on that record who would certainly gravitate more toward the Eminem/Lupe Fiasco types when dolling out respect. He is STILL a very sharp lyricist and is a Hip Hop as they come.

I still would say rappers, as in lyricists are Hip Hop, but there is and should be a distinction between Rap and Hip Hop as a culture. You can be a rapper and not necessarily be Hip Hop. Country artists are Rapping now and have absolutely nothing to do with the actual culture of Hip Hop. The new music becoming more abstract and less focused on words to me is just about femininity. I don't mean that in the negative, paranoid sense, but energetically, the entire planet is coming to the end of the male/left brained dominant society and will make a shift into more abstract, feminine, right brained approach where boundaries are more blurred.

Everything is a double edged sword, this swing of the pendulum brings creativity, originality and it will also start looking less and less like the Hip Hop we know of...or even move on into something else entirely.

Addendum:

Rap/rapping existed before Hip Hop and will exist after it.

You might see poetry books here and there, you might be able to catch a slam session or hear some spoken word at a coffee shop every now and then, but there was a time when poets ruled the world...and they still do, they are just called MCs now.

2pac, Jay, Nas, Em, Scarface, Lupe and whoever you wanna insert here are no less than Shakespearean in my view, it's just that there is an added bonus of a drum beat which essentially makes rap music post hypnotic suggestion...which is why it's been such a huge target of manipulation by the powers that be. nikkas will be rappin long after "Hip Hop" is no longer recognizable. These albums that we listen to in 1000 years will likely mean even more than they do to us right now, even those of us that cherish them and understand their potential. Same thing with our movies, these are modern day hieroglyphs.

Just thought I would throw that in there since he went from discussing something legit interesting to being an obvious troll  You can tell he's a smart cat though.

Only they're far less violent and graphic than the works of Shakespeare.:wow:

If we're looking at the message itself and not the person delivering the message, he's 100% right in what he's saying. Very few of Eminem's songs have replay value

I used to love Eminem but I grew tired of hearing his style of music after the first few times, and his stans make me never want to have anything to do with him ever again

You didn't watch the video.

Thread could have just as easily been called "Rakim ruined Hip Hop"

No, I understood the point he was trying to make. Eminem isn't hip hop, he's rap, the two terms arent mutually exclusive
