I haven't been paying close attention to DC in a minute. What's the deal with this new universe? Is it piff? Worth reading? lame as fukk?

I been thinking about tracking some shyt down but I wanna know your thoughts.

What's changed? How is it different?

I can't get jiggy with it to be honest. I sample a few here and there but that's it. They threw my a chunk of my childhood in the bushes.

So nothing I've read before happened DC? :stopitslime:

They had this crossover called Flashpoint where the world got all screwed up (Bruce Wayne's dad was Batman, there was no Superman, Aquaman and Wonder Woman were at war) and the Flash tried to put everything back to normal but he fukked it up and instead of going back to the old universe he made it into a combo of the regular DC universe, the Wildstorm universe and a watered down version of The Vertigo universe.

They are trying to keep the line to a steady 52 ongoing series so they cancel low selling books to make room for the new stuff.

Some of the books have been really good with Batman, Swamp Thing, Animal Man, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Justice League and All -Star Western being the stand outs from the initial launch.

All star western shocked me with how good it is.
I actually only read JLA/JSA related stuff since the original crisis.

storm watch, lantern stuff, legion lost is nice too.

I got the whole first year on DVD on For about $20 and have read up through month 8.
A lot of its good. But when its bad its horrible.

This is my thing. I usually don't get bothered by these things at all, but it was weird knowing that so much shyt that I had known to be "true" was retconned and rearranged. I get the whole trying to appeal to new readers and not have them be bogged down by decades of story, but still sucks.

I'd really like to see them map out 4 robins, death of batman, hush etc down on paper in the new 5 year timeline.

That was my initial issue with Batman's retcon. Between Jason dying, being resurrected (by Superboy prime no less, what happens to him), Barbara being shot and now walking (how?) and all the other wild shyt, when does what take place?

I'm pretty sure they're leaning toward Batman operating in secret for a few years before Superman's debut. dikk Grayson pretty much throws a wrench in any kind of timeline. He's gone from 13 to a grown ass man.

I've been downloading the whole New 52 comics each week since they launched but havent really gotten around to reading them aside from the first 10 issues of Detective comics.
Its okay I guess..Superman and Action Comics are interesting. Heard Swamp Thing, the vampire, western and JLA ones were okay

How is the batman series? Im well over a year behind, and i been thinkin about coppin the previous 13 to 14 issues from Amazon.com. I figured with the whole new 52 shyt they got goin on, now would be a good time to start following the series. Is it good?
