I got my CD on Wednesday. Here's my thoughts after a few listens:
The most interesting thing about this album is the way it was recorded: De La recorded 200 hours of jamming from their backup band the Rhythm Roots Allstars, then sampled from that to create the musical backdrop for them to rap over. Even when compared to the rest of their eclectic catalogue, it's still pretty avant-garde. I've already seen some people put it down because it isn't as streamlined and straightforward as "The Grind Date." But personally, I really enjoyed it.

Even the seven minute rock song and the song with Ursher sounded good on second listen
I'm halfway through my second listen and its feeling like a 180 from my first listen. This album could definitely be something.

My biggest point with this album is that I'd rather see the guitar solo cut out in favor of Drawn being 3 minutes longer. I don't like guitar solo's. Other than, excellent album I guess. I don't get the lack of cohesiveness critisism either.

'Pain' is the best song in the world at the moment. If the game still valued groove & soul instead ethereal death dirges this record would be a #1 rap single.
