There was nothing bad about the test...DeNiro would of been a good Sonny. Jimmy Caan IS Sonny Corleone though....dude coulda played Michael too

as much as I respect DeNiro as an actor, the way everything panned out as far as Caan as Sonny in the original and DeNiro as the young Vito in part 2...it was perfection, I wouldn't change anything.
