Everyone was talking about his 10-0 record v. Super Bowl MVP QBs before the Super Bowl this year (10-1 now carlton, take this L you charmin soft God-fearing beta)

First, remove eli manning from this list since he only shows up for the playoffs, so now we're left with 8 wins.

2012:
v. Green Bay (technically a loss but whatever)
v. New England

2013:
v. New Orleans (x2)
v. Denver (super bowl)

2014:

v. Denver
v. Green Bay (x2)

Now look at where he beat all these QBs...AT HOME

Common thread: Save the super bowl (which was on a neutral site against the biggest playoff choker in the history of sports), he has never beaten any of them away from the '12th man'.2-0 v. brees, 3-0 v. rodgers, 1-0 v. peyton, 1-0 v. brady, ALL AT HOME

So this is really the WOAT stat that Russell stans use because it doesn't tell us anything useful, as ANY QB (just about) could beat any of those QBs while playing in seattle. MATT HASSELBECK BEAT THE SAINTS IN SEATTLE.

Cliffs: Russell wilson is overhyped to ridiculous levels because of meaningless stats that are shaped almost entirely by the fact that they were all home games in the best artificial homefield advantage in football.

That Seahawks team just fits together perfectly. They're a true definition of a team in how they get it done.

If Russell Wilson completes that pass or Marshwn runs it in, he's got 2 SB's back to back...BUT even so, nobody would(should) be looking at him as the next Joe Montana, or Peyton Manning or even Troy Aikman level.

Real sports fans like myself are not swayed by finicky stats like "he's beaten X-amount of SB QB's" Big deal.....none of those QB won their SB's alone either. They were all team efforts.

Interesting analysis but I'm unconvinced that home advantage is the difference maker when it comes to Wilson's overall talent, if not his wins. Home field advantage only counts for 2.5 points per game, and while that may be the difference for wins when it comes to Wilson and Seattle, I'm not so sure the rest of Wilson's offensive output isn't testament to his skill. Then again, Wilson has a great defence that also contributes to wins. Maybe the best way to look at his effectiveness is to review his passer rating and Adjusted Yards Per Attempt.

And both of those metrics are comparatively high on average, though perhaps a little higher than they should be accounting for home field advantage. Cumulatively, I think Wilson is a little overrated but not so much that he isn't a top 10 QB.

@Wachaveli posts data-driven threads and contrarian viewpoints. You only like posters that support your view point. To speak to his football IQ, Wacha made a killing on the USU-Oregon game. He knows what he's talking about even if you don't agree.

This thread was only made to rebuke the simple-minded assertions that he is "great" simply because of his record v. other SB MVP quarterbacks. I could have easily done what I usually do and point to QBs who have done nothing but win when they play Russell (Alex Smith, Ryan Tanehill, Andrew Luck, Austin Davis) their entire careers.

And for all the Carlton Banks stans on here complaining about how he was 'so close' to repeating....he literally lost them the game with a poor throw on the 1 yard line. He only got to the 1 yard line on a Tyree-esque reception. 28-24 was the justified result if you want to play the "what if/luck" game. Deal with it. :umad:
