I never really checked out Deep Purple because the only song I knew of theirs was that overplayed Smoke on the Water song. But I've been checking out some of their other stuff lately and they have some gems. Their keyboard player Jon Lord was nasty

Man Deep Purple is my all time favorite band:ohlawd:

Their live music shyts on their albums...

Made in Japan is the pinnacle of live rock albums imo...

Ritchie Blackmore is my favorite guitar player ever:wow: He has great blues chops but throw in that classical harmonic minor playing and his feedback control, and shredding. Dude was shredding and divebombing years before Eddie Van Halen. Dude was also a huge a$$hole...drugged a roadie, stripped him naked and locked him in a car and sent him on a ferry to iceland:bryan: ..dude was point his 100watt marshall amp directly at his singer...

Damn, he was a fukking a$$hole! I hope he chilled out over the years.
If I was that roadie though, I'd have to either kill him or extort him.

And thanks for the links, I'll check them out :salute:

That sounds boring lol. But likely more suitable for a 73 year old's lifestyle.

As for not being hip hop related: I'm aware but I've seen plenty of discussions here not remotely related to hip hop/R&B. Threads in the lounge are DOA basically, otherwise I would have posted there.

Definitely, they're the reason I like 60s/70s rock/soul/funk so much. I feel like a lot of the soul from these genres was lost when they moved away from Hammond B3s, though. Synths/computerized keyboards can be cool but nothing beats an organ
Allman Brothers Band:wow: Allman Brothers Band live at the Filmore East is maybe the greatest live rock album ever....i'd put it first over Made in Japan.

Yea that hammond sound is classic...Hell the reason why Smoke on the Water sounds so massive is because Jon Lord plugged his hammond into a Marshall amp and modified it so it could distort.
