Marc Ambinder and D.B. Grady, “Deep State: Inside the Government Secrecy Industry” (Wiley, 2013)

Marc Ambinder is the author, with D.B. Grady, of Deep State: Inside the Government Secrecy Industry (Wiley, 2013). He is a contributing editor at GQ and The Atlantic magazine, and has served as White House Correspondent for National Journal. His new book investigates executive power and the role secrets play in US policy making. He weaves together eye-opening stories with a larger meditation on transparency and open government. His story toward the end of the book about a Secret Service accidentally shooting at and missing the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, while he entered a vehicle in New York, has already drawn considerable interest for what it may say about the relationship between the Bush Administration and Iran. Why wasn’t that secret ever leaked?

@19:00 He calls it "a government within a government, that operates off the visible government and operates off the taxpayers, but doesn't appeared to be constrained in a Constitutional sense by the government".
:francis: Maybe because the "deep state" is made up of private corporations and billionaires who use the state as an income pool/enforcement tool

:gucci: This is really not a surprise to anyone that paid attention to political science in school or is capable of being a critical thinker.

A. Jones talks about this material 5 days week...not just a 20 minute clip. Yet, people call him a looney toon conspirarcy theorist, though he actually goes into detail and brings in guest who have worked intimately in these industries.

So is it obvious or conspiracy theory? :hula:

:gucci: Alex Jones is agent first of all.

He distracts from the obvious with tales of the preposterous

Agent for who?

What has he said that's more preposterous than Trump getting peed on by 6 Russsian thots in a Moscow hotel...and the story being agreed by CNN and Buzzfeed...even though it turns out its a complete lie. What's more preposterous than NY Times declaring that Russia had hacked the Vermont electrical power company's grid, when it turns out it was just random malware on a laptop, not connected to the grid at all. What's more preposterous than those things? And that's just the last 2 weeks.

He actually was critical in getting Trump elected. He was getting like 10s of millions more viewers the last 2 weeks of the election season.

Let me repeat, I don't agree with all his perspectives, and I do :patrice: on a few points.....but pound for pound I trust his analysis 100x more than most of these talking heads.

If he's an agent then what is the MSM? Dr. Evil??

Didn't mean to skew conversation into A. Jones, but I'm just making the point how "conspiracy theory" talk is now normal talk, even though folks still futiley try to say its looney toon. It doesn't have the same stigma so much, now that the MSM is being exposed for being lying and deceptive pieces of shiiit........

What a jackass post.....

The only thing that has been said about
Trump getting peed on by 6 Russsian thots in a Moscow hotel...and the story being agreed by CNN and Buzzfeed...even though it turns out its a complete lie
is that it is "UNCORROBORATED" by the three letter agencies.

un·cor·rob·o·rat·ed
ˌənkəˈräbəˌrādəd/
adjective
  1. not confirmed or supported by other evidence or information.
    "the unreliability of uncorroborated confessions"

That means they are not able to verify the veracity of the intel. Not that its a lie

You gotta be white, not that its a automatic negative against you but because only a Caucasian would stan a open white supremacist in Alex Jones (outside of the Jesse Peterson, Sheriff Clark and alike ilk)

what people need to understand is that the issue Trumpistas have is not that the deep state exists - but that it's not working on their behalf and in fact has rebuffed Cheeto when he's tried to enlist them in the continuance of his crimes. if the nsa/cia/fbi were covering up his crimes all of his followers would be yelling from the top of a mountain how important it is to have security/intelligence agencies that are "immune from political pressure" blah blah blah.

:laff: I'm not white...I'm quite AA and black...I think my 5 years of posting up here can pretty obviously indicate I'm not white. Even if I was white, critical objective thinking is still better than being a Black Zombie or Latino Borg or Asian Sheep......critical objective thinking has no race or personality or any other trait attached to it.

White supremacist is thrown around by people that have never actually listened to his show...I've said that many times...:francis:.....that doesn't mean I'm not critical objective about some things he says ir doesn't say as well.
