DeMarcus Cousins thinks that he deserves to see his jersey retired by the Sacramento Kings for everything he accomplished.
DeMarcus Cousins is out of NBA for a few years now, but he's mostly remembered for his time with the Sacramento Kings.
Cousins played his best basketball in California, which saw him getting All-Star recognition even with the team not being able to follow his performances.
Cousins argues that the Kings should retire his jersey for all the things he did whilst he played in Sacramento.
"Obviously it would be an honor," Cousins said on the Straight Game Podcast.
"That was something that I definitely wanted and strived for, I think I earned my stripes."
"I feel like I did all the right things while I was in that jersey. As far as All-Stars, as far as All-NBA selections, numbers, gold medals, I think I did what needed to be done to join the others up in the rafters."
"It’s like you said, it’s a political thing," Cousins told Mike Bibby. "But as far as the work being done, I think I did my part."
Cousins averaged 21.1 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 3 assists over 470 matches in Sacramento from 2010 to 2017. He was named to three All-Star teams and two All-NBA Second Teams during that period.
