Believe in something probably coded by white people. If it involved a diverse team of people...how likely would that be?
The “People going after self interest” model with check and balances, is not really working

Nope. Minorities would get screwed. A logical computer will take a utilitarian approach to conflict resolution.

Edit: but the current system is not doing much better so why not give it a try?

You trying to turn Metal Gear Solid and Deus Ex into a reality? :picard:
Deus Ex is one of the greatest cyberpunk stories ever. Everyone loved the Helios ending, but that shyt was wack. Pure and perfect democracy sounds great, but people would have to be changed without consent. I liked the Illuminati. Balance individual freedom with control. The fact that people are bad at leading masses, and therefore have to set up elelaborate myths and beuarauacracies to separate themselves from regular humans is fun to think about. If the masses don't know who their true leaders are, they are immune from the criticism and accountability that leads to problems. I liked the debate with JC in Deus Ex 2.

"Weapons of Math Destruction" is a decent entry-level book that highlights how computer algorithms are used to cement pre-existing inequality and are a threat to democracy.

(Weapons of Math Destruction)

There's also been a lot of articles recently about how technological advances favor tyranny, because they make it easier and easier for one person or a small group of people to control everything.

Why Technology Favors Tyranny

how can you "run democracy" with a computer?
I would think that ideally, it would be a system where an AI would somehow have intimate knowledge of every human connected to its network. It would then make regulatory decisions for humanity based on that data on things like infrastructure, energy, criminal justice, trade, and monetary policy. The problem is that AI would lack emotion. Double edged sword, because it would lack ambition, jealousy, and greed, but would also lack empathy. In stories like the Matrix and Dues Ex, they tried to fix the problem by having a person at the core of the AI so that the AI could understand human empathy and individuality in order to get some counterbalance to its cold logic.

You'd most likely wind up with a dystopian surveillance state at the end of the day, though. That Atlantic article above has some interesting information.
