Democrats introduce the 'MAR-A-LAGO Act'
Democrats introduce the 'MAR-A-LAGO Act'
Jessica Estepa , USA TODAYPublished 2:18 p.m. ET March 24, 2017 | Updated 6:36 a.m. ET March 25, 2017

A group of Democratic members of Congress are playing the clever acronym game again.

One of the latest to be introduced and to target the Trump administration: the "Making Access Records Available to Lead American Government Openness Act."

Yes, the "MAR-A-LAGO Act."

The legislation would require the publication of White House visitor logs, something that was done regularly by the Obama administration but has since ended since President Trump took office. It would also mandate the release of visitor logs at other locations where the president conducts business -- for example, Mar-a-Lago, Trump's Florida resort that he has recently called the Southern White House.

Introduced by Sens. Tom Udall of New Mexico, Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island and Tom Carper of Delaware and Rep. Mike Quigley of Illinois, it comes after the president spent five weekends in Mar-a-Lago since his inauguration.

"By refusing to release the White House visitor logs, President Trump is only validating the rampant concerns about who may be pulling the levers in his administration," Udall said in a statement. "The president should end his administration's disturbing pattern of stonewalling information and immediately reinstate the previous administration's policy of publishing White House visitor logs. And given President Trump's unprecedented decision to conduct official business at his private business properties, the Trump administration has an obligation to make public the visitor lists at places like Mar-a-Lago and Trump Tower."

Given that the legislation would have to make it through a Republican-controlled Congress and be signed by Trump himself, it's unlikely that the bill will go anywhere.

get it done

Im not going to go back and forth with an intellectually dishonest poster. Suffice to say the reasons they want Hillary in jail are not for proven crimes, it is simply because shes a #liberalelite and they are "uncucked". Its foolishness. There are plenty of biased discussion boards, then there is The_donald; the political version of st0rmfr0nt IMO

This is definitely a productive use of their time....
When have they ever been productive? They do the bare minimum required to stay in power.

Look at Hillary's campaign. Literally the Woat She showed up to like 30% of her rallies and let obama do the rest

She was sick and wasn't at all transparent about her health

this is what happens when u do the bare minimum for too long. U get complacent and nikkas like trump take advantage

Worst part about it was this site was ok with them doing the bare minimum as long as trump was the opposition

But the Wikileaks showed that was their plan all along.. Pied piper strategy.. to get the RNC run a shyt candidate and let Hillary waltz into the White House

You put that fact together with the fact they surveilled trump to gather info, it becomes clear that they knew Hillary wasn't going to win on her own merit.

Not even saying trump is necessarily the best
Choice but the left dropped the ball this time around. Period.

As Palm Beach season ends, Trump seems set to spend more time in New Jersey

Palm Beach Daily News

  • It appears President Donald Trump is set to visit his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, from May 23-25. He historically spends more time there during the summer, when Mar-a-Lago's club is closed.
  • The summer months are slower at Mar-a-Lago, where the club traditionally closes after Mother's Day each year.
  • During Trump's expected weekend in New Jersey, he is scheduled to give deliver the commencement address at West Point in New York.
With Mar-a-Lago's club closed for the season, it appears President Donald Trump is beginning to make his annual summer sojourns to his property in New Jersey.

Trump will be at his Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, from May 23-25, according to a notice posted by the Federal Aviation Administration that said presidential-level temporary flight restrictions are forthcoming for that area.

Trump spent all or part of 35 days during 10 visits to Palm Beach since taking office Jan. 20, but he historically spends more time during the off-season at his Bedminster club.

The summer months are slower at Mar-a-Lago, where the club traditionally closes after Mother's Day each year. Trump still may visit when the club is closed: He and first lady Melania Trump declared Palm Beach their permanent residence in 2019.

With Trump set to spend more time away from Mar-a-Lago, Palm Beach is set to see a break from the island-splitting road closure that goes into effect with each of his visits. The U.S. Secret Service orders the shutdown of South Ocean Boulevard between the Southern Boulevard traffic circle and South County Road when Trump is home, a move that effectively cuts the town in half.

Trump's expected upcoming trip to New Jersey follows his return from a four-day trip to Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. He is also scheduled to deliver the commencement speech at the U.S. Military Academy West Point in New York on May 24.
