A criminal offense can be anything including misdemeanors or simply not fully reporting income to the IRS. Even if a person is not charged or convicted they can still face denaturalization. Even a simple mistake on immigration forms can be the basis for denaturalization and removal from the USA.

At the end of the day, the power of a Democracy is dictated by the voters.
In a Democracy when the mass majority of voters are morons, it’s very difficult to do anything about it.
That’s a Democracy’s biggest weakness: when the moron class far outnumbers the smart class and only keeps growing in number.
