It did for Viola, it did for Octavia. Whoopie has had people change all her roles to fit her based on her talent and hard work. Jennifer Hudson got an oscar for her FIRST movie. Halle, who is not even light skin, has had more success than her peers from her era. Jasmine Guy, Lisa Bonet, Rae Dawn Chong, Vanessa Williams, Tisha Campbell, Robin Givens should be more successful than Halle by your logic.
So you're saying that colorism doesn't exist and the women that you've just named are proof. That's exactly what people are taking from Denzel's comments. That's exactly why I described them as soft-show c00n comments. You don't come out and directly say that colorism doesn't exist(because you're a bytchmade coward) but you certainly imply it.

just listened to the interview again to make sure i wasnt trippin, and that i didnt mishear him....naw, i'm not and i didnt...

yea, a lot of yall just need to listen to the interview, and not go off that title...cause a lot of the shyt people are complaining about in regards to how he answered, what he was talking about, etc., he actually addresses in the interview...but i know, that's not the coli way to actually go off what was said...it doesnt help you make your point....i say that cause the question itself wasnt about viola, yet that's what people are harping on to try to make some point lol.....

side note: it's a shame how quick we are to turn on each other...look how fast yall were ready to call this man a c00n based off the title of an interview, and not actually what he said in the interview....

Neither me or Denzel have said or implied that colorism does not exist. Colorism has been practiced in Hollywood for a long time it's not a new concept. I listed those talented women as examples of people in the industry that have persevered in spite of the unfairness in Hollywood. Read for comprehension breh lol.

Had Denzel said that(which would've been a direct answer to the question) then there wouldn't be an issue with his comments. The problem is that he didn't say that which is what I've been telling you the entire time. Reading comprehension bruh.

Btw, a couple of people succeeding in spite of a problem doesn't negate the problem. Your argument is the equivalent of when whites point to Oprah or Obama as reasons why it's invalid for blacks to complain about systematic racism.

Why would Denzel have to say what I said when him, you, me, the interviewer and everyone else knows that colorism isn't a new concept. His answer was more productive because he actually gave a solution and examples of what to do when one is faced with colorism. Also those examples that I gave you are just the tip of the iceberg. If I wanted to give you a lesson on how the many black celebrities that have persevered through colorism and featurism I could take waaaaay back but I don't want to derail this thread more than I already have.

:dwillhuh:

I'm literally going to quote my post and yours, just so anyone who happens across this thread can see for themselves the psychotic mentality of "feminist" hating males (although anyone who pays attention knows its not just "feminists" you all have a problem with, you dislike all women).
I don't think he's trying to say that colorism doesn't exist (at least I hope not, not Denzel too please no :sadbron:). But he answered this horribly and if he gets backlash he deserves every bit of it. I hope he'd be big enough to see where he went wrong and apologize and/or correct himself and move on.

I actually see what he was trying to say, but a simple "yes colorism definitely exists and makes darker skinned Black women's lives difficult in and outside Hollywood, but..." pre-face before the rest of his comment would have went a very, very long way.

So you understand what he was actually saying but you're going to pretend that you don't, and that you're outraged, because he didn't semantically answer the way you specifically wanted him to?

The petty logic of feminists. :mjlol:

So I basically say "I think he's saying this but he worded it poorly and should have phrased it better" and gave an example of how he could have better worded it. And that makes you go on some nonsensical rant about me being outraged. Even with no semblance of outrage in my post :dwillhuh:

You misogynists are truly batshyt. You just see a woman/female poster who represents everything you stand against (women's empowerment) and flare up to the point of delusion.
