it was released 2 years before i was born:pachaha::martin:

i was put on to Nas music at 12/13 years old and have listened to illmatic all the way through

at least 20+ times since then

it really is a flawless album:wow:

every listen i pick up more and get a better understanding of the legacy behind it

but i need more detailed info on the influence and how it changed rap

from the brehs who were alive when it dropped

what was it like and where were you when one of the GOATs dropped this:ahh:

3 or 4 when it came out. Was a 2pac Stan back. Blame it on the west coast. "From Oakland to SacTown the Bay Area and back down"

I can see exactly why it was a gamechanger. Can't take anything away from it. It's a classic album. I actually listened to it til the tape popped in two places. I didn't really appreciate what he brought to the table lyrically until a few years later, though.

I'm just one of those few that has it behind It Was Written.

I had it on cassette and downloaded it again on napster. When I first heard it I was a kid and his lyric was so complex and his vocabulary was confusing to me so I had to rewind and repeat his words and look them up in the Dictionary to better understand the bars.
