You can't even figure this shyt out...

I can figure it out, the point of THIS FORUM, is to DISCUSS TOPICS, the TOPIC AT HAND, IS THAT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS IS HAPPENING and will this lead to Blizzard competing with Steam in the near future
but then in true Coli fashion, within a few posts it went off topic to discuss something IRRELEVANT to the topic at hand (Blizzard and Activision merged)
Steam is the most overrated commodity in the gaming community, but that's another topic
THATS NOT ANOTHER TOPIC. THATS THIS TOPIC.
As arguably true as that may be you'll get an instant sales boost just by the sheer number of people on it.
Imagine how good the Titanfall series would sell on it.
Thank you for staying on topic
Destiny doesn't need the 'sales boost' from Steam.
If you're a middling game, indie, or series with a moderately high release tempo then sure. But saying Destiny needs the sales boost is right there with saying that GTA needed Steam to be successful in the PC market.
If Rockstar had a B.net they could walk down the hallway and use then they'd never bother with Steam. But TakeTwo has been happy to work with Valve by giving them some of their biggest sellers (2k series, Borderlands, Civilization, Mafia, etc) so its been beneficial to both in a way. Activision doing this lets them shake their own hand so to speak.
GTA sold more on Steam than through Rockstars client I believe (someone correct me if im wrong)

It actually originally split the user base because you Rockstar had their own social club separate from Steam user groups so you couldnt even see your Steam friends online

thats why the sudden risk (I think it will work out by the way) of releasing Destiny 2 through Battle.net is odd (UNUSUAL) but can see the benefits of it
