Dog , I swear to god I knew you were referring to this song before I even clicked this thread , no one was using percussions/drum programming in that manner in fukkING 94 :mindblown:... that whole roster was in a different realm from everyone in that time period and easily changed the landscape of urban music if you do the homework thoroughly enough

Yeah DeVante's production post late 1992 was ahead of its time. He basically created a style for Timbaland to run with that Timbaland (and Pharrell) ruled 2000s urban music. Sad that DeVante got forgotten about though

No other r&b sounded this futuristic at the time
