Some of them are staying on code, but others are making it clear how they feel about the situation even if they don’t state it directly.

I get the thought process behind not wanting her to retire
im not even understanding that. there must be a thousand democrats in california politics who would be more than happy to serve out her term as senator for a year and a half, and let the primary play out for the seat with schiff and porter. no one would be "wronged" there

this is nothing short of a fukkin embarrassment :snoop:

It’s all about power and influence.

Newsom gets to pick the replacement and that incumbent will have an advantage over everyone else when it comes election time. That tends to happen for the most part in those type of situations.

but they dont HAVE to run though. a deal could easily be made where newsom appoints a replacement who doesnt enter the primary race, so there's zero conflict. there's a thousand democrats in california who would do that willingly

anything is preferable to wheeling this corpse around as she pisses herself :dead:

Newsome has essentially already made it clear who he wants to be the replacement and that’s another problem in and of itself.

It’s a terrible look all around and everyone in the Democratic Party knows it.

im just thinking ahead to next year, when she dies in office. newsom will have to do exactly the scenario i laid out anyway :dead:

we might as well force her out somehow, and have fetterman be the least competent senator for the next year and a half. she cant just not show up to work as the 50th vote :hhh:

It does make sense that the more establishment Democrats would prefer someone like Adam Schiff in that seat over somebody like Katie Porter, or even Barbara Lee. I remember Newsom hinting at Lee being his pick if Feinstein ever stepped down. It makes sense for them to wait out her term so he won't have to face an appointed incumbent. I don't think Schiff is going to have it that easy with his prosecutor background. Whatever it is, it's fukked up that most of her colleagues see nothing wrong with her continuing to hold office in such a fragile state.
It doesnt mske sense. She cant resign because republicans wouldnt allow s replacement on the Judiciary panel. She is needed to show ip to get judges passed. Even if she retired, they explicitly said they wont help replsce her seat on the panel
