i'm watching old music videos and TV shows (fresh prince, martin, moesha, etc.) and shyt literally brought tears to my eyes :to: like black ppl seemed so much more proud back then...much less c00nery ; there was a conscious afrocentricity in the early seasons of fresh prince & moehsa...it's so heartwarming to watch n/h :unimpressed:

like can you even believe this song was a top 10 billboard hit in the 90's?

black mainstream singers just aren't making this type of sincere, soulful music nowadays mayne :wow: shyt was just so pure and real..

i dont think it was peak. but it did proliferate black culture to the rest of the world. black culture has always been influential; it still is.

i think you mean it's changed from being pro black to being universally consumable.

there were always pro black artists, writers, actors, etc. but unless they're saying "fo shizzle", "it's giving", "yass queen", etc. they won't be appealing to cacs. black culture is rich and multifaceted. but what is often picked up are the negative or less than reputable parts of it.

cacs can sing about killing nikkas at concerts and thats ok. but what if they talked about killing politicians that keep fukking black folks? will that be a bop? probably not.

Its not that the culture fell off, is that funding for arts, education, and media outlets that would give novel / risky ideas a chance.
Austerity has a part in the decline of media in general.

Yep, the cutbacks in arts/music programs reflect the lack of skill that the modern young black kid has. It's always about the shortcuts, the quick way to get money, and, something for fickle people.

It took DISCIPLINE and DEDICATION to make an era like the 70s to 90s so great. Without it, all you have is a jumbled mess of a once-great culture.

Everything peaked in the 90s

We’ve been on the decline since ever since

There was a study, where it was scientifically proven that attention spans have vastly decreased post 2000.

Even in Hip Hop, the likes of Wu Tang and Canibus is were dropping 6 minute songs, 100% bars no hooks, and it was topping charts :ohhh: Once the 00s started, all of that dexerity and skill started to vanish.

exactly.

only tech has taken an insane leap and it has largely been in the consumer space unless we are talking about defense and spooky big brother shyt. All the tech we have and people are dumb as fukk, broke as fukk and literally hungry as fukk.

even the (American) space program is nowhere near where it was 20+ years ago

The invention of the IPhone(2008) is honestly the beginning of the modern era and all the ills that come with it. I was watching a series that came out right before that time (2007) and the fashions, social interactions, etc. look so surreal.

humanity dropping the mask again

90's was a peak in dressing up the facts

now instead of sweeping things under the rug it gets put in the streets
