Lets excuse the fact that it's a great song in it's own right. Would that song have fit the album's concept and if so where would you place it in the tracklist?

It could've been track number 1.

Or it could've been an extra long intro...ie Cartoons and Cereal/Sherane like Sing About Me/Dying of Thirst

I'd put it 3rd on the tracklist

Why would the story all of a sudden go from him hopping in the back of the van with his homies to all of a sudden C & C then going back to the freestyle session? Or are you just dropping Backseat completely

It doesn't necessarily fit in the story's timeline unless you put in on the first track on some "he is reminiscing about being a kid etc" then switch to the present time where he is going to pick up hoodrats and shyt (sherane) .. :manny: (juxtaposition between watching cartoons and shyt; "innocence" / him being caught up with his homies doing ignant shyt and starting the chain of reactions told by the narrative of the album)

but sonically and content wise i think it fits.

i just put it on as a bonus track tho.

A Mississippi Cotton Field
its interesting......

a lot of the bonus tracks make it seem like Kendrick was aiming for telling his story from the time he was a toddler till now.

Cartoons and Cereal, County Building Blues, Black Boy Fly.... up to The Heart part 3. They tell a totally different narrative from the album's main theme.

He could've hopped in the van like "hey, listen to this new song I did", transition into "C & C".

Bar maybe as a intro, it wouldn't fit story wise. And it wouldn't fit as a intro anyway. So no.

I thought the whole story thing was overdone. I hate backseat freestyle

Does Compton fit the story of the album?

Like PE said, he made it.

The end of Real talks about his mom telling him that Top Dawg called to get him in the studio, tells him to work hard so he can tell people his story, give back to his city.

Compton is him making it, he just told his story, that even though he was raised in a shaky environment, he was able to get through it and succeed.

Just to add on to this. You can hear what sounds like a tape recorder fast forwarding and clicking during the album. After Real the story fast forwards to the present
