Did GTA5 destroy the hype train?

Unbelieveable how hyped we was for GTA5 and this shyt hardly gets mentioned after we saw how underwhelming it was

Im over here looking at Metal Gear Solid V knowing i should be foaming out the mouth but now im just

just like everything else these days, gets overhyped and talked about so much that no matter how good it is, it will never live up to the hype. Detox could be best album of all time any genre, not good enough, the next 3 Star Wars movies could make the OG trilogy look like Phantom Menace, not good enough, Rockstar could make San Andreas on steroids but people would find shyt to complain about.

personally i think GTAV was great, they brought in new ideas, the way they switch between characters was easy & well timed, driving was improved greatly which was my biggest gripe about GTA4. i don't know what it is that makes SA so playable but i bet they could remake that game exactly with todays graphics & all that & cats would still complain about shyt & say it was boring or whatever.

i can only speak for myself but part of the problem is i'm older, i don't have time for games like i used to. i'm 31, i have 2 kids, a full time job that i can't afford to fukk around at, house duties now that i'm shacked up with wifey. 10 years ago when SA dropped i didn't have all that shyt so i had time to just sit & play so of course i built more of an attachment to games like GTA, Halo 1, etc.

I'm so glad I didn't purchase. I kept reading the threads on here and felt like I was missing out, but I learned my lesson last time. I'm sure its a fun game but there's only so much you can do with GTA at this point.

Just couldn't capture the magic of the earlier games.

They tried too hard to get in on the cinematic wave games are doing these days. The older games were great due to fukkary, not cinematics. Which is why saints row has eclipsed it in pure fun factor in my opinion.

I just think they have no direction to be honest. 5 and 4 were the worst GTA's to be honest and the story and characters were so unimpressive.

The game was dope but it felt like you kept doin missions and not get paid. I still haven't beat it but i heard the final mission pays in the millions. But the game is over, it seemed like R*crafted a game that they intended the player to keep playing way after the campaign was over.

Have you played the last two saints row games?

Obviously they aren't competing with gta in graphics/production. But they've done a much better job preserving the fun of the early gta games. It used to be fun to run from/harass the cops is gta games. In gta 4 and 5 it's an annoyance.

Kind of strange the last two was ass but the first 2 were great.

My hype is still intact for other games but GTAV pretty much killed any hype I may have for future Rockstar games.

Can't believe I bought into the hype of this game. IT's funny my girl is a huge fan of GTA, I like GTA3 and VC, and my boy likes GTA as well
All of us have had the game and none of us have played it at all recently. I probably got the furthest but after a while it just lost it's appeal. The economy was pretty garbage (what's up with these side missions that give you nada?) and the shooting controls were not up the acceptable level (Auto aim was too easy and manual aiming was mad sluggish).
I had a TON more fun with Saints Row 4 matter of fact I started a second saints row 4 game just to goof around some more and I may never beat GTAV

I've been playing gta since middle school , I was hyped when I got it and was hooked.

I was pumped and felt like I was a kid again when I saw the trailer drop for gta 5, and closer to release date I was excited. fukk I even went to the midnight release and stood around with them nerds. Playing it the first few days was .

Then it became , game seemed half ass and thrown together.

I had more fun in gta 4 and the dlc add-ons. Ballad of gay tony, lost and damned

Most people want a new setting, yet they keep recycling the same ones and I think people are starting to get fatigued. Also, not being able to enter buildings of your choosing is getting old as well, the game should have been reserved for the next gen systems, and give us Rio already.


A city of god style GTA where you start out as a young kid in the favelas would do numbers

The next GTA will have people like when it first comes out then later even though I enjoyed it. The same amount of people will buy it and that's the way it goes. Also the problem is that fanboys want GTA: SA in every GTA game that comes out, which is never gonna happen

It might seem small but I also think the lack of celeb voices hurts the game as well.
