Even before I could do that shyt myself I always had an uncle, cousin or older breh who'd just knock it out for me and keep it moving.

You're on your way, breh. I'd attempt to repair minor stuff on my car past oil changes but I'll never entertain attempting anything like that unless I had another car to drive and I could just learn and maintain that car without worrying about how I'll get around if I fukk up.

Also man, with each oil change always make sure to check the transmission oil and steering fluid and top those up. When they slowly get depleted and the car starts slowly puttering on some bullshyt you might mistake it for a part going bad like when I thought my tension pulley was causing a whining in my car when it turned out to be low steering fluid. Almost spent over 200 on that.
