I didn’t take any private loans. OP, it depends on your major and earning potential, but even if you’re in a high income field, I would do my best to avoid loans period unless there’s no other way. But even then, you need to figure out if you can borrow enough to finish your degree. You don’t want to be stuck with one year left, can’t pay and now you gotta pay the banks back.

Only private loans I’ve taken out are low interest car loans. I guess my credit cards count as “loans” but I pay them off every month without interest. I get free money for using the card how I would normally use a debit card as well.
