Some folks may have heard of freeway ricky before Rick Ross started rapping.
However it was Rick Ross who really made freeway rick more known and relevant in rap circles...and in Rick Ross rap music, Rick Ross comes across as if he in tha D game, but not freeway rick, besides freeway ricky cant rap...

Rick Ross has just been able to stay with a "persona". Its acting.

Just as a rap respect thing throw some monies at freeway ricky

folk get mentorship/protege every day.

Did Rick Ross make Freeway Ricky more known or did Freeway Ricky make Rick Ross known?

Rick Ross the rapper made Rick Ross the gangster famous to this generation.

Just like no one from my generation knew who Frank Lucas was and now he's up there with Gotti and shyt as far as my generation goes.

Few gangsters become very famous without entertainment doing it for them..

Frank Lucas is a 100 years old of course nobody knew who he was. There are people in this generation that was aware of freeway Rick though. He's been on DVDs and news stories and such. But the casual rap fan probably didn't know who he was until this Rick Ross fiasco.

I'm talking about before 2004, many people did't know who he was.
But in 2004 when you started hearing the name Rick Ross, you wondered who he was. I'm not talking about until now, I'm talking about before Rick Ross the rapper.

The average cat born in the mid 80s to early 90s, who did they know first Rick Ross the rapper or Rick Ross the hustler?

I mean unless you read about the whole Iran-Contra thing and shyt like that how would they know? They were too young to remember the news and shyt talking about him.
Just like Big Meech, people claim that they knew but no one knew who Meech was before entertainment made him famous.

So Meech was famous before he created BMF Entertainment and started doing those 500k parties with Puff and these dudes before 02-03?

In 2000 who knew about him? Just the dudes connected to people connected with them in one or another way. I don't remember anyone ever mentioning him and that was his prime as far as street shyt went. Now I'm not extremely interest in crime, but I like to know what's going on. But to say that he was famous is like saying some dude in theoretical astrophysics that everyone extremely interested in astrophysics knows and no one else is famous.

I for one had been heard of Freeway Ricky way before Ross dropped anything. But for some of these youngin's they probably weren't familiar with the real Rick Ross until William Roberts took his persona.

That's why u tell nikka he has no case, cause Ross the rapper didn't get popular cause it was freeway rick name, he got popular from his music, not once in his music did he rap about or try to imitate freeway rick life, shyt he copied his beard and made it popular and now u can't walk out the house without seeing a non Muslim rocking the Ross beard, nobody cared when freeway the rapper had it

Anyone with even a passing knowledge of U.S. history would know about the Iran Contra fiasco, Oliver North, and of course Ricky Ross. The real Rick Ross was already in history books....actual history books....before the rapper dropped his first album.
