This seems to happen in baseball all the time. What about Albert Pujols $240 million contract. He was a beast in his prime with the Cardinals but he fell off within a few years of this Angels deal. They still owe him $120 million.
The Carl Crawford deal is up there. Finessed 2 different franchises to pay his $142 mill in full. Got through 2/3 of the contract barely even playing... they ended up paying him the final 35 mill a year early just to get him the fxck off the team
