It's not really "natural"
Asian chicks who don't care about appearing pale (not using sun umbrellas, not using skin lightening creams, etc.) usually have golden skin color (and it looks a hell of a lot better like that)
My wife is pale like that. She is Taiwanese. She doesn't use a sun umbrella. In the sun, she doesn't turn golden brown, she gets all red and suffers from bad sun burn.
You have to remember the that the Chinese are like the Borg from star trek, they appear homogenous but they assimilated many different groups into their culture.
Taiwan and Hong Kong were once home to the Pacific Islanders. It is evident in HKs Y-Dna patterns, and in the case of Taiwan, the Pacific Islanders still exist as a separate group. The Taiwanese aboriginals are brown skinned people who look more like Filiponos and Moaris than Chinese.
3000+ years ago, South China and south east Asia were home to a large population of black people and a large separate population of Pacific Islanders. The Chinese interbred and assimilated those two groups. You can see traces of it in the gene pool and in the distinctness of the regional Chinese.
Based on her DNA Test, my wife seems to come from the Manchurians-- a group associate with the frozen landscapes of the Altai Asian Steppe. Make sense that she would be very light skinned. My wife is northern Chinese. Her brother is 6'2, which is not unusual for the northerners. The Northerners seem to have a different type of face as compared to the southerners. I can't really explain it.
My wife's friend is darker skinned, has bigger eyes, flatter nose, bigger thighs and a bigger butt. I'd bet that somewhere down the line my wife's friend had either a Black Asian Ancestor, or a Pacific Islander ancestor. Taiwan was home to both blacks and later Pacific Islanders in its history before the Han Chinese took over.
