Did the phrase “no cap” start in the Bay Area?

lol its always the bay or philly claiming to be the origin of everything. they were wearing air max 97s in the bay around 94 and riding spinners in the 80s

on another note, would be happy to never hear "no cap", "all the smoke", and "that bag" again. hearing people in NY say "no cap" is so lame

The slang from the new era hasn't been that bad. But this is awful.

"No cap" sounds kinda lame.

But "all the smoke" and "bag" make sense b.
Gunsmoke (beef) and bag (of money).

In fact the two go together real well. I'm picturing some old Western in my head right now.
