Used to think so. Then the reference tracks leaked and I thought maybe he spits other people's raps sometimes, then meek having the jump and knowing the lyrics to summer 16 and having war pain prepped already came, then the stories of the concentration tents at OVO started leaking and now I am starting to think e doesn't at all. Rhianna doesn't write her ish either and she has some dope tracks so I'm not hating. Drake just can't be considered a lyricist/MC anymore. All evidence is pointing to him just being a pop star who raps.

I like Drake's music and I was disappointed with the Reference track fiasco; considering his subject matter I was under the impression he wrote all his own shyt. Clearly, he has some other folks tossing him lines and hooks sometimes. That said, anyone who thinks Drake doesn't write MOST of his own rhymes is either:

A) Hater
B) Moron
C) fukkboi
D) Related to Meek Mill
E) All of the above

Drake's whole catalog is garbage, it doesn't matter who's writing the weak ass shyt he's rap-singing (I won't use the word "spitting" because it's an insult to real rappers)

I might be a "hater" in the sense that I believe Drake's whole existence neds to be wiped out and all the records of it destroyed

and Meek Mills can suck a dead man's dikk

well it all depends on what your agenda is or how much you like him or if you can look at to objectively.
theres people that now believe he's wrote nothing or had help on every verse which i have no problem with because that doubt is now there.

i and would assume most people settle for the middle ground and believe he wrote stuff for himself but also acknowledge he has had help and even though he won't need a QM to write straight bars for him, we don't know know who might have helped him before (Nickelus F for example) so there is now that asterisk next to his name as a rapper.

i like his music, and i think he's a good to great rapper but does the writing thing bother me with him ? not really.
if it was rappers i loved it would hurt.

i do hope he wrote Fear though..just for;
"I could use a writer just to balance out my flows"

He had to at one point. Why would Wayne just sign any arbitrary person to his label not knowing if the investment is worth it or not?

the video director Shomi said Drake used to be on Neptunes or Clipse message boards trying to spread his music and asking people like Shomi to be his manager or some shyt like that.

you would assume he had no help in those days.
unless he was getting verses off of textcees for some Degrassi dollars.

:ohhh:

man look, Drake used to write for other people. Im pretty sure he wrote for himself. There was a situation where the reference tracks he was doing for other artists were being leaked and he clearly wrote some of Wayne shyt here and there. Supahead put that one on blast..But I know this the 6fraud era, so ima let yall cook

This is something I wonder. Was Wayne in on it? Did he see a guy who could be huge but needed writers? I don't know anymore
:dame:

There was no "market" for Drake back then. Pretty sure it's been well documented that record labels didn't know how to market him. There's also documented evidence of Wayne not liking or getting Drake in the beginning.

And I'm dying at the reach that three incomplete reference tracks from a mixtape = Drake doesn't write any of his own shyt. :wow::pachaha:

Listen, even though I love Drake I understand the allure of hating something. I'm a hater. I love hating shyt...but not when it defies logic and commonly known facts.

To me that's the most insulting aspect of the whole thing. Dude is caught using reference tracks just like Puff Daddy or Dr. Dre would use, which means he can never truly be taken seriously as an MC, the primary title of an performer within the genre of hip hop...

Ok cool

Rather than copping to the obvious...him and his whole team have been making a concerted effort to not only act like the shyt never happened...but that he was never of the position that not writing your own shyt is a no no in the genre.

So...in acting like it never happened...in acting like you never had someone write your shyt...and not straight up admitting to it even though we already KNOW the truth, your PAST shyt can't be taken serious either. Because if you're gonna lie about something like this, AFTER THE FACT how can we possibly take your past work seriously when from the get go there was ALWAYS a big question mark on your whole steeze, at least in the eyes of anyone who really really listens to hip hop and has an ear and an eye for the shyt.
