From Punk music to more recently the Dub step wave americans have a history of sharking west indian influenced music & claiming it for themselves...Is this the case with hiphop?

Toasting renamed ''rapping''....There was even gangster toasters in the early 70's...but Ice T 'started gangster rap' :mjpls:

Renamed Deejays....:dwillhuh: ''D.J's''

And more recently...busting nuts over Drakes 'singjaying' like they ain't heard dancehall artists doing that 20 years ago :stopitslime:

just a few examples of 'hiphop' history of cultural appropriation :mjpls:

Rapping/MCing revolved into something more than what toasting is/was but as far as the original inspiration I think it's pretty well known that Kool Herc was a Jamaican DJ who took the style of DJing from his home land and basically played Funk and Disco records with it instead of the reggae stuff the Jamaicans were doing.

Are you going to act like Reggae was completely original? It was basically just rock or blues with the guitar strum accented on a different beat.

At the beginning of mean streets
I'm pretty sure people know hip hop's originators were both Jamaican (and Afro-Carribean) and African American. So many of the illest and greatest rappers were Jamaican, so why wouldn't they give 'em props?

Are Jamaicans gonna give Yankees props for inventing the microphone to record every single album they've made in Jamaican history?

:dwillhuh: We are talking musical & cultural influence you idiot. & alexander graham bell was british
Don't matter, jamaicans/black americans we started a black culture thats emulated and copied by all :blessed:
Tell me if it doesn't matter why did the americans have to change things to suit their sensativies? The answer is clear, cultural differences.
