the schools I taught at did since it represented the transition from 5th grade to 6th (elementary to middle school)…growing up I had a big one but for 8th grade…in all cases it was nice…the kids dressed up and we had a big event…like a mini version of a college graduation in the school auditorium…conducting practice/rehearsals were a pain in the ass tho :dead:

dunno what this has to do with graduating from 5th grade…it’s not an “either…or” thing

why are these kids and parents doing the most :why:

depends on who you ask…the answer is not always gonna be the same but depending on the area these schools are at, it’s a sad fact that in some instances this will be the first and only graduation they ever see…I’m not saying that’s the case with THESE kids…but in some extremely low income areas the rate of graduation is significantly lower and the consensus is it’s nice for them to be able to experience it at this age bcuz a lot of them never will :(…but I’ve worked in some districts where they did not have a ceremony/celebration for graduating from 5th grade bcuz community-wide it wasn’t viewed as an “accomplishment”
