Did you ever have another Breh refer to you as "Dog" as a term of endearment?

One of my homeboys one time told me "What's good Dog how you been?"

We almost had a fight right then and there :demonic::yeshrug:

Told him don't you EVER refer to me as Dog. I don't drool uncontrollably and do whatever my master says :picard:

Call me "Cool Cat" instead

Friendship almost ended right then and there when he saw how serious I was, but we good now

OP...

Did you really take offense to the word "Dog"?

To answer your question, I have been addressed as dog or big dog before.

I have been addressed as chief, boss, homie, OG, nikka, blood, cuzz, champ and other shyt I may have forgot...

Gotta take intent into consideration..

Do you think people who address you as anything other than your birth name or nickname as an insult?

Also, context is key as well..

Catching fades over things like this is a lil over the top IMO...

I don't mind it in English if I know the person is known to speak like that. Not many people use dawg where I live anyway. Unless they wanna refer to someone as a snitch or just an as*hole, that's what 'dog' means around these parts. (not that I speak like that anyway)

But in my native tongue, dogs are considered dirty and opportunistic. Calling someone dog has very negative connotations. Unacceptable.
