I was watching TV with my girl and saw some kind of contest where you could win an Xbox (I believe it was a Taco Bell commercial)

And wondered to myself does anybody EVER really win these things? Maybe cuz I don't do the research, but do they post the winners?

Has ANYBODY on here ever won something from a contest (local, radio, national, etc)

Won concert tix, a car, Publishers Clearing House, etc anything?

What did you win? What was the process of getting your prize? Was it worth it? Did you have to pay taxes, fees on it? Did you win and not claim it?

Hip a brotha to how this stuff work. Anybody ever get on Price is Right or Let's Make a Deal?

I mean I know HOW it works but what was YOUR experience?....

Somebody wins them but ya'll acting like they gonna get the same press as lottery winners :mjlol:

You name ain't getting thrown out there cuz you won a $300 dollar console.

True...but I was thinking post them to their website or something. You know, "hey we had this big national contest, and THESE are the winners" that type of thing.

Trust me, I'm not expecting cats to get the MegaMillions winner treatment, but something to let us know that the stuff is actually being given away lol or people are really winning

I’ve won a few. Not for anything like a game system, but tickets, etc. Most of the time, they’re definitely schemes to reach more people. While you get a free product at the end of the day, the people who held the offer have made their money back in advertising and reach already.

with every interaction, there’s an exchange

Won a Ducati 1098S in 2007. Paid the taxes, sold it to my boy and put the cash towards a loft I bought.

My dad won tickets off the radio back when we lived in SC like early 90's...

He didn't get them because he said they asked him to do too much. Said he had to come up to the station at these weird hours
and he wasn't taking off (or my mom) to go get them. I asked him if they were for a group they liked would he have gone to get them
he said :manny: maybe, maybe not..."its just a concert man" was his exact quote

Oh snap, a vehicle, that's tight! How much were the taxes roughly? Did you even get a chance to ride it (:dame:)? Did they give it to you or did you pick it out/pick it up yourself from some local car dealer?

Nah they sent it in the mail. This was before Amazon. I just remember seeing my name on the box and scratched my head. Once I saw the cereal logo I knew I had won a game. It was a lucky draw from a list of games. I was hoping it would be some WCW game.. when I saw it was KnockOut Kings:

Was my exact reactions.

I tried to collect the Monopoly pieces that our local grocery store was doing (Safeway)

I had my parents and my sister and her husband working too lol.

We were only going for the larger prizes, I swear, I think they put the pieces to the larger ones in a whole different county/city...That way if you won, they would know something is up (at least that was my theory)
The only prizes I ever saw people win from that game was the free bakery item or the $5,10, 20 gift card. Nothing like the big ticket items they were promoting.

I won $200 on a scratch off a couple times but when you think of the money you played and lost, does it ever make it "profit?" My boy and I used to spend $100 on payday at the liquor store across the street from my job on scratchers...never came up on any major prizes. I guess I'm cynical now because I feel like NOBODY wins lol

It was already spec-ed out. Just had to pick it up from the dealer. Cant remember the taxes but the bike was like $17k. Yeah I rode it until my guy got all the money together.
