I was just imagining if we still was on that wave today and how would that work? 
People would trip on the controller, your system might fall from wherever you had it. Nintendo's in particular were usually on the floor to avoid that issue. Ditto with the 16-bit era
If wired controllers were still a thing, I would only game in the bedroom because my kids would knock over my system multiple times a day. I now better understand why parents would often get mad and be like "not right now champ" because I can tell you right now, I wouldn't tolerate 3-4 8-18yr olds taking over the living room with cords everywhere for hours at a time

life was good.
i have to admit though, now that i'm used to wireless, i don't feel the need to go back to the old ways.
