When I was a small child I remember by dad buying a black action figure. For some reason I was scared of it, preferred a white one. I remember hiding it under the sink cabinet in our bathroom. In hindsight, black children are really conditioned to revile blackness...imagery, marketing, media is so powerful, yet so subtle. It took me a long time to unlearn all that bullshyt I believed about white being superior

wasn't focused on race like that. Just whatever toy was hot. Yeah there were more white action figures but race never popped in my head like that as a kid. I had the Junkyard Dog Wresting figure and even tho Hulk Hogan was numero uno my favorite was Jimmy Snuka.( I also had Piper, Big John Stud and Andre The Giant and I had the ring)

This. Alot of the star characters or hot toys were white @ the time (early-mid 90s).

-I remember having hella wrestlers (like 3 Hulk Hogans, 2 Stings, 4 Rocks, etc.)

-X-Men were GOAT.:banderas:

-Had all 4 turtles, April O'Neal, Shredder, Rocksteady & Bebop...
...but when I got that Turtle Van for X-Mas tho:blessed:

I loved all action figures that were GI JOE D Ninja turtle.

But, when it came to who I imagined was me and my cousins when I played...

Thank God Spawn and the majority of Todd McFarland toys had black stars.:blessed:

Most of my main action figures were black.

I thank my parents for never letting this get on our heads. We grew up Christian, never seen a white Jesus picture in our house. All of our statues of people, no matter what they were, were always black. A white depiction of something was foreign to us. All black parents need to do this.

I remember going to my aunts house when I was about 10 and seeing my first black Jesus pic. The one where it's a regular pic of cac Jesus in blackface. I remember thinking " why does she have a black version of Jesus ?, must be a bootleg pic" My first time thinking about the difference of race. Before that I only watched cartoons
