Interested to see a thread on the methods you use
@PhonZhi

I've actually been meaning to make a thread on this subject. Basicly a thread on how I attempt to offset the negative images of black men that my daughter will be subjected to over the course of her life.

1 thing I will say is that I now try to dress more "adult" and classy now. Rappers are the main representation of the black man worldwide so I try to dress and carry myself THE OPPOSITE way that these rappers carry themselves.

I want my daughter growing up with an idea of how a real man carries himself, so if a young man steps to her pants hanging off his ass and tattoos on his face, she'll equate that with immaturity and not someone that she would want to take serious.

All of her books also feature black characters. Its hard to find dark skin toys at times so there's a few websites that I've ordered toys from that caters to black children.

:jbhmm: Most my toys were racially blurred... Growing up on things like Turtles, Transformers, Voltron, Thundercats, etc, None of my main ones had any clearly defined racial standpoint... Except the brehs insisted Panthro was Black :pachaha:...

I liked Ninjas & dudes in cool looking armor & shyt so most my favorites that had races were Asian...

Black, my mom wasn't playing with me. I watched my sis pick out a white doll, my mother smacked her upside the head with the box and said "black doll or no doll, I don't wanna hear it" :scust:
