My biological grandfather did. Kicked my grandmother down some steps while she was pregnant with my uncle (who ended up with learning disabilities). I don't know my other grandparents.

My mother tells this wild story about how one day he came in the house after losing money gambling and began punching my grandmother closed fist so her and all my uncles who were like 16 beat him and chased him out the house.

My maternal grandfather was out the country for 6-8 months out the year working various jobs.

My paternal grandfather was a farmer & a respected spiritual figure in his area.

If they beat their wives - they had the decency to keep it away from public view.

Both men died many years ago & are still highly respected by their wives.

Mom's side: Yes. My uncle (his son) beat him to death for it when he grew up and got sick of it.

Dad's side: Not that I know of. I never met him and my dad and grandmother never spoke of him. I couldn't even point him out in a lineup.

My grandmom (dad’s mom) was married to a drunk who beat her before she met my grandfather. She had no kids by him, had a few miscarriages. She finally left him and once they legally divorced, she married my granddad. She couldn’t have kids, so her and my grandpops adopted my dad from her best friend (my biological grandmother).

Kind of off topic, I was grown when I learned my great grandfather on my mom’s side had outside children. I was disappointed to learn that because I loved that man. I found out a few years after he died.

Before my grandfather suffered a stroke, he never beat her. After the stroke left him child like, he beat the crap out of her all the time and chased her around the house routinely with a cane or knife if could get it. Had to childproof the drawers. She didn't want to put him in a home.
