What you said is a great possibility. I think I remember hearing that in this area they are instituting a high school requirement that students take a personal finance class that includes tax preparation in it. I need to ask my wife what she knows about it, but from what I remember their reasoning was pretty much similar to what you stated above.i feel you, I just thinking out loud. If low income people aren't taught how to do taxes then the gov will take there money out of there income and just not give a return which is a massive issue if you think about.
Don't take it personally too much. Mothers can be very stubborn in their desire to not be too much of a bother to their children. You can tell some it is not a bother until you are out of breath, and next time around she will still not call you over to fix what ever problem she has.

Imma let you in on a lil secret. Low income people are the first ones every year filing they taxes and they get big ass returns for them have kids.
This is true. I remember my friends talking about their momma bought them something nice with her tax return. My parents did not do the same for me.

I never asked, I believe they do it more often now with the internet and word of mouth but just thinking historically NOBODY said shyt, another poster pointed out athlete get caught by taxes a lot.

Well correction, I said they blew up the Black entertainers (athletes, actors, etc) ones who did get caught. So it would make it seem like none were doing their taxes, even though that was not necessarily the case.
*We have to remember what they project about us in the world is a lot of times not the actual truth. They remove context to anything to make something seem worse than what it is when it comes to us.

Along with all the big tax joints setting up shop right on the hood. Since the 80’s. What do you think of low income people. Lol taking it the wrong way, Yes a lot of low income people are are/were illiterate especially in the south. Our grandfathers couldn't read or wright hell some of our fathers couldn't. What I'm trying to understand is how the government set a system to take money away from low income black people but didn't teach them how to get it back which is what a tax return is. This a massive reallocate of generational wealth.
But i guess I'm wrong black folks have been getting there money from government since ever.

Yes. Old man was an accountant. Learned how to do them at around 10 years old. I'm mid 40's now. Put dozens of us on to doing their own. You should see the look on their faces when people realize that their "smart cousin" been finessing them by giving them couple hundred bucks in order to claim their kids as dependents.

I agree with the bolded. I've had a 1099 as a side gig for 14 years. Someone taught me how to do taxes and 1099s 11 years ago and I've been doing it on my own since then, as well as teaching others.
To answer the thread: My dad didn't do taxes (incarcerated most of my life and never had financial literacy), but I've been doing my mom's for 9 years. Before that she would go to a local Jackson Hewitt office.
