I'm speaking specifically on the publishing split. Not royalty statements, etc. At the beginning of the interview he says "Lets say it's a dollar. Out of that dollar, 50 cents go to them. Out of that 50 cents I get 20 cents."

And that's accurate. They own 30% but he's attributing the composer 50% share to the LOX to get 80% which is a lie. That's all I'm saying.
yea this nikka kept double talking and twisting facts hoping the truth don't come out

At the end of the day I respect Puff for telling these knuckleheads how it works in business. It seems that we (black people) are less likely to challenge a white person in power for giving us a "unfair" contract but when the person resembles us we cry bloody murder. Why do we expect business to go any different when the business owner is a person of color. Business is all about profit. Minimizing the loss on your end and maximizing the gain.

Puff presented a platform for them to get famous and make more money than they were making and they accepted. If they didn't like the offer they could have 1 either left it alone or 2 brought a lawyer and renegotiate the terms. They choose to be ignorant and just sign anything that was put in front of them and cry later. I bet they wouldn't go to Lyor Cohen, Clive Davis or Jimmy Iovine with any of that threatening nonsense. Why is that? Yet when it's a black man trying to get his business man on we tell them to do it different and forget about their profit.

Not saying being a shiester is the right thing to do. Just saying it's a ton of hypocrisy when we a black man exercises the same techniques as a white or jew.

This is true. Not only a black man, but just cause Puff made himself accessible to his artists. He chilled with them, was the around the same age as them. Puff was around people with guns around all types of street people. So the artists start thinking "Im no different than him, we talk the same, dress the same, hang around w the same peeps, come from New York, we should get the same cut if we brothers." BUSINESS doesnt work like that.

Plus they see Puff catapulting to a superstar for the Benjamins joint, starting Sean John, and bonin J.Lo then they start to get salty. They prolly had people in their ear saying stuff to them that they can make more or whatever but they tried it and never were as successful as they were on Badboy.

Lyor Cohen, Clive or Jimmy Iovine wont be chillin with u and those street dudes or taking your phone call when your talking contracts...they'll get their legal team or department to handle that shyt. Puff made himself accessible, he bent over backwards and let them go out of their contract. You cant do that in these days...it was precedent setting.

shyt like that is why I can't respect any nikka that be on that super thug rah rah shyt, but bytch up on corporate standoffs. Where was the same people that talk about dropping bodies that even cemeteries can't bury, but are like :sadbron: when some white man has their contract?

You sound like the type of dude to walk in front of a bus and then blame the bus.

Yall got weird definitions of the word "snake". A snake would add the words after it was signed. What's snakish in asking you to adhere to the contract you signed?

Only black folks conduct business on the radio.

Might I also add, look at Jada's business decisions after Bad Boy. Ruff Ryders, Interscope, Rocafella, D-Block, Def Jam. He never smartened up.

Jada has that old school 90s mentality where the major label should promote the shyt outta you just because you nice lyrically. That is why he is scared of going independent.

1.5 million net...in total from the cheques. Thats take home after taxes. If you're a group of 2 or 10 it doesn't matter thats your choice to be in a group.

Yeah - same thing would go for an RnB quartet...unless the group determined that the lead vocalist gets more points, or that songwriting credit or whatever.

The Lox are a trio, but there were many two member groups that had to split their publishing and profits. More complicated for larger groups like Wu-Tang.
