You are doing your children a disservice if you don't have them playing an instrument. It's just as important as any sport. But they'll be able to play the instrument well past the age and risk of sporting.

The history of the banjo is crazy. You imagine CAC rednecks playing but it is one of closest things that connects Africa and America and they style that came from it is very much in the African American (and by extension American music).

ive never owned one but i like fukking with them at the music store. they're in open G on 5 string, right? you can barre and play fourths on it and it'll sound good lol. i play guitar with my fingers so i could master banjo if i really wanted to

You can play it like a guitar, yeah

5 strings so easier to learn
