They have to be within their respective services height and weight standards which is faaaar below the avg sized CFB lineman. Also there's no liberal arts degree plans to hide them. Their workloads are crazy as well

tell us more breh.

I know YOU got stories. :feedme:

This

They have to meet a lot of requirements for the military. Im surprised they are even D1 because size/strength/talent wise they are usually overmatched. Maybe in boxing and other sports they can do well in.

Basically you got to be in regs... do the academic shyt, do the military shyt, then do the football shyt and once you done I believe you have to do 6 years of regular service if I'm not mistaken

Edit: nevermind, its 2 years..

Regardless you got to do the time

My close friend is a coach at Nay. It's way different.

First of all, they all have to abide by the strict military rules, no matter athlete or not, so there is no preferential treatment.

Freshman at Navy have some big ass rules, so if you get caught with a chick or sneaking around drinking or something, you are kicked out, no questions asked.

When I’m in Annapolis, everything is definitely Pro-America, military first type atmosphere - I always laugh at him when he talks about some kid being a Navy recruit, and I always say “Who the hell would want to play here??”

But if you’re not overly concerned with going NFL, or don’t have a lot of offers because you’re a good player, but small, Navy is a good route, I must admit. When kids graduate from school like Navy, they get like 50-60k cash, placed somewhere, free housing and stuff like that, to serve…and serving don’t mean going to war, its like going on a ship, or working IT under military or something.

I see the benefits, it just not a place for a guy like me.

Actually they can weigh whatever they want while competing but have to lose weight to meet requirements after they are done.

Their workload is crazy. I was watching a Army or navy game this season (can't remember) but they showed one player's schedule and he had about 6 classes and a recreational sport plus his football duties. And those classes didn't look easy.
Those guys take hard classes in season and out. At regular schools they're taking their easiest classes in season.

Yeah they usually officers

They not going to do shyt really unless they go special forces or they marine officers.. But even its not like with enlisted.

I agree you have to be very dedicated and discipline to go through the academy though.

Nah they got regs

Highest is like 240 but you got to be tall af for that

BUT you can get measured and if your BF% is not over (the standard way they measure is by neck width and waist width) and you can pass the physical standard test... Which im sure as football players they can do fairly easy, then they will pass regulations pretty easily.

Most football players have abnormally large necks.. Its how I got by in the military. Having a large neck/small waist = passing within standards.

BUT thats not shyt compared to those bigass Olinemen in college football. I dont think I've ever seen a 300lb+ person in the military ever.

I was the size of a small corner/safety at like 5'7-5'8 185lbs and still had to be measured every single time

:ohhh: I'm about to call my bro. His brother just started playing for Air Force (freshman) and I did not know he'd have to lose weight. I'm sure coming out of high school he was over close to 300 (plays oline)

Yeah ask

I literally just looked it up on the naval academy site.

And from my experience i never seen anybody over 300+ that was actually in regs, or at all, but I aslo wasnt in the academy

Im sure there are waivers for football players too BUT none of that matters if you pass the BF% index... Which really isnt shyt to an athlete

Just got the answer from my boy.

He said that it's a lot to explain, but basically, when the player graduates, they have to be in standard, but while they are playing, they can be outside of standard.
