What surprises me is the Gen Z wfh crowd still living with their parents. They make money but not enough to buy a $350k house with 20% down at 7% interest. Take all y’all asses to Detroit and build a new community on the cheap :manny:
Its a great idea taken at face value, but Detroit has poor infrastructure. The roads are bad, schools are bad, city taxes are high, etc. Its hard to justify living in Detroit, when one of the surrounding suburbs is just as cheap, safer, and has better infrastructure. Also most of the cool stuff of the 60s - 80s that made living in the city of Detroit cool are gone. A single person buying up a cheap house in one of those neighborhoods is just putting a bullseye on their back.

While Detroit was on a downward trajectory before the subprime crisis, Obama and Geithner bailing out the banks instead of homeowners made things much worse, and we as black people need to acknowledge that black people in power aren't above fuq'ing us over.

Bteh...it hurts dear to my heart when I see a elected black official in office and go:

  1. They are not getting any support from fellow officials and the government as opposed to a white official :francis:
  2. They got to play the game in order to survive (make decisions that destroy black communities, be in bed with banks, etc)
  3. Pretty much sitting ducks (can't stretch power because they have a lot to lose, can't make decisions because agenda)

Its a catch 22 and it fukking sucks because it just feels like black folks will never get over the hill. No matter how much you are a political factor, how much you strive for perfection, and want to change the atmosphere...you are still a "nikka" to the powers that be :aicmon:
