Digital Underground's album Future Rhythm should've gotten 5 mics in The Source

Album has held up lovely.

from start to finish, this album flows perfectly. Easy going, fun spirited and introspective lyrics/songwriting over funky/r&b/jazzy production.


Sex Packets is their magnum opus but Future Rhythm is my favorite Digital Underground album. Album should've gotten 5 mics

Great thread. This album was never going to get 5 mics from The Source regardless of how good it is. Think about it, NOTHING from 1995 or 1996 got 5 mics. Between 1994 and 1997, Only Illmatic and Life After Death received 5 mics out the gate. Even when The Source re-reviewed albums, only four albums combined from 1995 and 1996 were re-rated at 5 mics (Me Against The World, All Eyez On Me, The Score, and Reasonable Doubt).

Among the best of 1996, this Digital Undergound album is unsung, as it's a lot of albums from that year that people would put in over this. Takes nothing away from it, but it is what it is.
