That 10 Bricks joint is the best beat on the album. Rae and Busta chose the absolute right Dilla beats for Cuban Linx 2. RIP to Dilla.
I agree. Hardest joint on there. I had no idea Busta was involved? Was it from when he and Rae were on Aftermath at the same time? I was always surprised that it dropped on an indy and actually had Dre beats on there.

At one point Cuban Linx 2 was supposed to be a Dre/RZA helmed project but that didn't go down. There was rumors that Rae was going to sign with Aftermath but that didn't happen. And Rae been knowing Busta for years. He's a VERY close associate to the Clan and one of Rae's best friends. Busta is the one who told Rae that Dilla was a big Wu fan (this is after Dilla's death) and always wanted to work with Wu. He played some of Dilla's records for Rae and Rae chose a few to be on his album.

I'm more partial to Sonny's Missing but 10 Bricks was definitely a standout.

:ohhh:

Reps when I can. It's telling me I have to spread some around first/slow down on them. I didn't know this. I didn't know that's how the Dilla connection got made or that Rae and Busta were so close.

Yea, they are very close. He's been a very close Wu associate for over a decade and Rae even goes so far as to call him his "mentor".

One of the last best Pete Rock joints on an album. The hardest joints to me were 10 Bricks, Sonny's Missing, Surgical Gloves, New Wu, and Gihad.

I remember back on :hamster: when this and Blueprint 3 leaked on the same day.

Last year Ghost revealed that him and Rae already began working on Cuban Linx 3. I wonder how far along that is. If Ghost is heavily involved (beat selection, heavily featured) we could be getting another gem.

all excellent, the 2 on Fishscale also
i think him and Masta would have done something dope as the years went on, Deck too :mjcry:

Forgot about Fishscale. What's crazy too is Dilla named that beat One For Ghost right after he made the beat.

I slept on Masta Killa so hard over the years. I used to be into more energetic flows and raps when I was young, so to me he was always one of the weaker Wu members. I liked Meth, Rae, Deck, Ghost, and GZA. When I was young I couldn't wait for his verses to be over on Liquid Swords, Linx, and Ironman. I think I gave No Said Date a chance and realized that I definitely slept on him. I went back after that and now his verses on the old Clan albums are some of my favorites.

Glaciers of Ice? Wu Gambinos? Duel of the Iron Mic? Winter Warz? Assassination Day?

The fukk was I thinking?

Masta Killa has a slow, off kilter and methodical rhyming style so it's not palatable at first to alot but he is dope. He's like the Wu's silent, but deadly ninja. No Said Date is one of the best Wu solos post 2000. He also almost always comes with a dope verse on the Wu group albums. He came really nice on A Better Tomorrow.

Rae and Ghost were supposed to record Linx 2 as a duo back in 01 but decided to both record there own version wit different subtitles for the album name......BPW was originally titled Cuban Linx 2:Bulletproof Wallets.....Rae never released his title nor an album which leads me to wonder if he has sum unreleased shyt from that era...and i aint talkin none of that Lex Diamonds story shyt.....so with that said should BPW with all the tracks that got cut be considered the og
OB4CL 2 or nahh.....????????????
