WWE Reportedly Talking to Spike TV About Potential TV Deal
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 03.12.2014

Could TNA end up without a home?

- WWE's discussions for their television rights package has as of late included AMC Networks, Viacom, Time Warner and 21st Century Fox. The talks with Viacom, if they pan out, would be for Spike TV which would leave TNA without a TV contract. Viacom has reportedly not yet renewed their deal with TNA, which expires around the time that WWE's contract with NBC/Universal is done.

Time Warner's talks would likely be for TBS and/or TNT, while the 21st Century Fox discussions would put them on FOX Sports 1 in an attempt to grow that channel. It would see WWE and UFC have all their cable content on the same channel.

The new deal should be announced at the end of April or early May.

WWE's been couped up chillin w USA for awhile which is an overlooked network overall, to begin with. This next venture will be quality either way from the change of pace aspect. When they went to the Nashville Network that gave me the :scusthov: Guess they knew what TNN was turning into.

They don't need to go back to that 2nd rate network though unless Spike drops big $.

I don't know why the E wont package together some of its programs and have multiple homes for them. For example Raw/Superstars air on NBC universal channels and SD!/Main Event air on FS1 and FS2. NBA, NFL and MLB all have multiple homes for their games and their still making money. It kills me that wrestling has a supposed stigma in the business world but yet Hollywood and Wall-Street are quick to sell wrestling fans something through advertisements, and cross promotions. Vince and co should be able too get money for their programming just like everyone else.

Spike sucks. Has always been terrible. All this time later and they still have no solid programming. Just reruns of Star Wars and "reality" shows that rip off other popular shows from other networks. Why go back to that? I think that was one of WWE's complaints about that network before -- there were no other draws on the network to help bring it up.

I see AMC as being a good fit though... :patrice: They're hungry and are tapped into mainstream & pop culture at the moment.

Just stay with NBC Universal. :manny:

I get what you're saying, but they kinda already to do that, just on a smaller scale with Main Event being on iON which is not owned by NBCU. Also they used to do it anyway with RAW being on TNN/Spike/USA and SmackDown being on UPN/CW. I don't think SmackDown would go back to free TV tho.
