Dude family was rich and had land galore, was happy to read that his son got destroyed in the civil war on the confederate side. I feel some type of way of other colored people lately.

How's that work out? And no I doubt you could sue the family, the 40 acres and a mule was to come from the government, not the families...at least i'm almost 100% sure. Maybe you could sue for wages? But even then you're technically part of HIS decedents as well

Typically, black people's ancestry searches end around 1900 because of slavery (families broken up, sold, etc).

Mines goes back to 1830s on my mother side with that CAC but i found out this CAC mother comes from Dominican Republic where her family ran the fukk away.

Found mine a few years ago. He "married" my great great grandmother or something when slavery was abolished and that's where my side of the family comes from. No i am not dominican i am african america that cac mom comes from dominican republic and they ran like rich white families did at the time of chaos.

Consider yourself lucky.
Most black folks hit a brick wall around 1880-1900 when they search for their ancestors.
Personally, I don't feel the need to know... It's guaranteed to be ugly or bittersweet anyway

Dont know that was the slave master family. I havent even decided to look. Dude had tons of slaves but he only mention my gmom in his will and selah.

The surnames in my family dating back are Scott, Wilson, Adams, McDuffie, Montgomery, Wilson, Clark i might be forgetting more.
