Everybody wants their superhero flicks way serious, with everybody in dark leather and angsting through the whole movie these days, breh. It's just the trend since Nolan did Batman. It's dumb as fukk though. Hopefully it'll go away in a few years once everybody realizes it.

it's a trend..for it to be a trend you'd have to actually have it in movies.. Besides batman and superman it's actually non-existant...so it aint no trend. I actually like it tho. Best Marvel movie was punisher: annihilation .

The second half of that statement invalidates the first. It's brought on by the three Batman films and Man of Steel, which poorly attempted to adapt the same tone to a character like Superman (which was really never a good idea to start with) and, arguably, Watchmen. And I assume you meant Punisher: War Zone?

Man of Steel was only produced by Christopher Nolan, and not at all related to Nolan's trilogy aside from tone. Superman isn't really a character you should attempt to add realism to, but I guess it's just a matter of taste. I don't think movies about flying dudes with heat vision and magic hammers should be taken too seriously, but that's just me.
The realism I'm talking about is related to the tone of the movie set by what's going on.
