They gave up a first round pick for Cooper so they have to extend him. But as for Thomas, how would it look if they paind him that but wont take care of their own players (DLaw)? I say they dodged a bullet because had they traded for him last year, they wouldn't have got Cooper and it's a strong possibility they wouldve had to overpay to keep Thomas or lose him outright with less picks. The cowboys weakness is the defensive line anyway at this point. Dallas has been able to build exclusively through the draft. They probably feel they can continue that route. The only problem is they have wasted Daks rookie contract this far, so they have no choice but to go the cheap route at the safety position.
