This about being unable to escape your partner till the kids turns 18 anyway. Especially with rents / housing and other necessities increasing.

i was thinking the same exact thing when i read the thread title. some women divorce to protect children from a violent father so it would also make sense that if the children would have equal time with an abusive father in a divorce then that would increase the chances of them being abused without the other there to run interference and protect them.

a lot of factors could be why the divorce rate fell even more than the national average.

So lets take the white men out of the equation since it seems to be effecting yalls way of thinking. So are you saying that most BLACK women who leave their baby daddy are doing so because BLACK MEN are abusive? because statistcally that would speak volumes.

Equal custody puts a lot more weight on a white dude used to having a woman that handles all the day-to-day shyt. Now he's got the kids half the time instead of just during summers or weekends. He gotta cook and keep his place clean more often

They would be celebrating talking about "justice for black fathers!" or "City Boyz up".

I have to admit, he makes an effective point on this. Work on the problem you fear is happening, instead of giving carte blanche power that can, and has, been easily abused in the past.

Let it be sorted by each circumstance that the courts can study, instead of assumptions on outcomes based purely on the sex of the litigants.

Exactly 50/50 by default and none of that moving to make shyt difficult. If a parent has a new job post divorce that requires relocation then there can be negotiation i.e. introduce Child support to offset % change of custody.

shyt should always be a case by case basis. And not skewed towards the mother or father. And definitely shouldn't be equal time regardless of the situation.
