I have an uncle like this. My pops and most of his siblings actually grew up in the hood, 10 ppl living in a 3 bedroom shotgun house on the east side of Jacksonville, real poverty

By the time uncle was a teenager, my grandparents leveled up enough to move across town to basically a suburban type area(Arlington). He went to school with white kids but for some reason kept running back to the hood even thought that wasnt even as habitat he was from. As a kid I remember my grandma driving back to Florida Ave to get him off the corner

Dude got a bball scholarship to a D2 school in upstate NY and still ended up running to the game

Eventually catching a 7 yr bid and not getting to see his sons early years

Having said all that, having a cop for a father or coming from a stable home =/= he's fake. I met more drug dealers in the suburbs, and I ever did in the hood. A girl I was dating back in the day was security for The Jones Store, the people pulling up to the mall in a van 10 deep to steal racks of Tommy were from the rich part of town.

I guess this is the part where you say "nah fukk all that he's a fake gangster!"....cool. I never met him, I have no idea how "real" he is. Nor do I care really, dude is a good rapper, I'm not trying to be his friend. A lot of you cats are too invested in things that have nothing to do with music.

We have an older guy in our neighborhood we Keep an eye on to make sure he’s safe because people really don’t know how to deal with them.
