"During a recent interview with Idea Generation, DJ Premier touched on a a number of topics. But one nugget hidden among a treasure trove of vital Hip-Hop history was his plan for he and Royce da 5'9" to make their PRyme collaboration a trilogy.

Premier stated, "PRhyme 3 is a doozy. That’s all I can say. That one we are not going to announce until it’s done. But you are definitely going to be like, 'Oh, shyt, okay!'”

Preemo also delved into the origin story of the group itself: "Royce stays up in so many different hours. He’ll call you at all different types of hours of the day. He’ll stay up for five days straight, not sleep, just be recording. He’s like a Kanye in that regard. Right before I get to the airport, he goes, 'Yo, how about we call ourselves a name, like a group? Instead of being DJ Premier and Royce da 5’9.” I was like, 'You got a name?’ He’s like. “How about we call ourselves PRhyme?’ P and R is capital, P is for Premier and R is for Royce and 'hyme' just encompasses everything of Hip-Hop together. I was like, 'I like that.' We started coming up with logos. He was like, 'Yo, Eminem’s art guy is really good. Can we use Eminem’s art guy to do something?' He showed me PRhyme logo and I liked it. And he said, 'From now on, we are Prhyme!' That’s how it was, it was birth."

I like phryme, it's hip hop as fukk.

But I'd be lying if I said it's anything amazing, royce isn't wasting the premier beats or anything but it's never something that I'm dying to hear.

The Prhyme albums are what convinced me for sure that DJ Premier had fallen off. Completely forgettable projects.

The only track worth a shyt on that series was this jawn:

Beyond that, you would think the chemistry was like how it was on Death is Certain, but in reality...Prem doesn't really have the sauce as he did in his hey day. Plus the fact that he did crack while making some of his beats is evident that dude is wild overrated.

It's why I laugh whenever people say they want that Nas joint with him. He's my second favorite producer of all time but he ain't the same guy...he dropped an EP last year and no one talks about it lol
