what songs was Rakim shoutin them out? im talkin bout shoutin out street dudes in your raps... i think Quik took that to the mainstream level

ahh, i thought you meant in general. i mean thats the back cover to a groundbreaking hip hop album. id say that brought real gangsters into mainstream hip hop as much as anything else could have. but yea, i dont think they were "big meech, larry hoover"'n but its still the same premise. but i feel you nh

Yo Bugs, what do you think about Quik's Way 2 Fonky album? I feel like that's where he really found his sound and what direction wanted to go in as far musically.

Way 2 Fonky was one of my favorite albums in 92... it was good for the time but i dont think it aged well

At certain points in the album, it does have a very dated. I just think it's interesting to see how that album has more of a P Funk and Roger Troutman sound than Quik Is The Name. This isn't to say Quik Is The Name wasn't funky but it just seems like he found his sound and more and begin build more upon it.

DJ Quik is on my list of "legends I just can't f+ck wit"...

But I thank him for giving 2Pac the "Hearts of Man" beat, because Pac freaked that beat something serious...
